Download MCA Selector 2.9

MCA Selector is a free, open-source (MIT) Minecraft chunk editor for Java Edition, created by Querz. Every primary download on this page goes to the official GitHub release — the only source the developer recommends — with the exact file sizes and SHA-256 hashes published with the release so you can verify your download.

Windows installer: no Java installation needed (the runtime has been pre-packaged since v2.8). The .jar needs a 64-bit JRE 21+ with JavaFX — see requirements below.

Back up your world before you edit it

MCA Selector writes changes to your world files immediately. Deleting chunks and applying NBT Changer edits cannot be undone, and there is no File > Save step (the one exception is the single-chunk editor, which writes when you press Apply). Always make a full copy of your world folder before editing, and never edit a world while it is open in Minecraft or running on a server.

All 2.9 release files

Version 2.9 was released on September 15, 2026 and adds support for Minecraft 26.3. These are all eight files from the official GitHub release, with the sizes and SHA-256 hashes published by the developer.

There is no .msi installer — MCA Selector has never shipped one. If another site offers you an “MCA Selector MSI” or an Android APK, it is not from the developer. Source code and all releases: github.com/Querz/mcaselector.

Which file should I download?

Verify your download

Compare the SHA-256 of your file with the table above. On Windows, run Get-FileHash .\mcaselector-2.9-setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256 in PowerShell. On macOS and Linux, run shasum -a 256 <file> or sha256sum <file>. A match means the file is byte-for-byte the developer’s release.

System requirements

Windows installer (.exe)

Since v2.8 the installer pre-packages the Java runtime — you do not need to install Java, and it works without an internet connection for the runtime.

Universal .jar

Requires a 64-bit JRE 21 or newer with JavaFX (pre-packed, e.g. a JRE-FX build, or JavaFX installed separately). Java 17 and older will not run current versions.

Memory

At least 6 GB of RAM, per the official installation guide. With less, assign more memory to the JVM manually with the -Xmx argument — assigning 4 GB is the recommended starting point.

Supported worlds: Minecraft Java Edition 1.2.1 through 26.3+ (DataVersions up to 5023+). MCA Selector does not support Bedrock Edition worlds — Bedrock uses a different (LevelDB) format, and the developer has stated there are no plans to support it. There is also no guarantee that worlds generated in Snapshot versions will work.

Version history

2.9 — September 15, 2026

Updates for Minecraft 26.3 (mappings, rendering and parsing) and new zoom options, including lower-detail zoom levels and improved coordinate rendering. Adds the RemoveLightingInfo field.

2.8 — June 15, 2026

Updates for Minecraft 26.2 and new download options: native macOS .dmg and Linux .deb/.rpm builds appear for the first time, and the Windows installer now pre-packages the Java runtime instead of downloading it during setup.

2.7 — March 24, 2026

Updates for Minecraft 26.1 and a new Subtraction mode for selections and chunk filters, plus Java 25 compatibility fixes. This is the last release that shipped only the Windows setup .exe and the universal .jar.

Is MCA Selector free?

Yes. MCA Selector is free and open source under the MIT license, developed by Querz on GitHub.

Do I need Java to run the Windows installer?

No. Since v2.8 the Windows installer pre-packages the Java runtime. Java (64-bit, 21+, with JavaFX) is only required for the universal .jar.

Does MCA Selector work with Bedrock Edition?

No. MCA Selector works with Minecraft Java Edition worlds in the Anvil (.mca) format only. Bedrock worlds use a different format and are not supported.

Is there an MSI installer or a mobile app?

No. The official downloads are the files in the table above — there is no .msi and no official Android or iOS version.
