Legacy Versions & Archive

| Version | MC Compatibility | Requirement |
|---|---|---|

💾 Mandatory Backup
MCA Selector modifies your .mca files directly. Always create a full backup of your world folder. If something goes wrong during a chunk deletion, a backup is your only way to recover.
☕ Java Check
Confirm you have Java 17 or 21 installed. Open your command prompt and type java -version. If it says “command not found,” you must install Java before downloading the .jar version.
🛑 Close Minecraft
Never use MCA Selector while the world is open in Minecraft or running on a server. This will cause file access conflicts and likely corrupt your region data.
By following these safety protocols for Minecraft world editing, you minimize the risk of data loss. MCA Selector is a powerful tool designed for surgical precision in chunk management, but it relies on the user maintaining a clean saves directory environment.
Download Support & Error Fixes
Encountering issues while downloading or launching MCA Selector v2.7? Our expert troubleshooting guide addresses Java runtime errors, security blocks, and performance optimization.
🛡️ Security & Browser Blocks
Q: Why is Chrome/Edge flagging the file as “Dangerous”?
This is a common “False Positive” triggered by AI-based filters because MCA Selector is a niche tool that modifies binary region files (.mca). Our files are pulled directly from the official GitHub source and contain no malicious code. To proceed, click “Keep” or “Run Anyway” in your browser’s download manager.
Q: Windows SmartScreen prevented the start?
Windows SmartScreen often blocks unsigned .exe files. Click “More info” and then the “Run anyway” button. This ensures the program has the necessary permissions to read your Minecraft save directory.
☕ Java & Execution Errors
Q: Nothing happens when I double-click the .jar file?
This usually indicates a file association issue or a missing JRE. Ensure you have Java 17, 21, or 25 installed. Use a tool like Jarfix to restore the .jar association, or run it via terminal:
java -jar mcaselector-2.7.jar
Q: Encountering “UnsupportedClassVersionError”?
This error means you are trying to run MCA Selector v2.7 (built for modern Java) on an old version like Java 8. You must upgrade to Java 17 (LTS) or higher to support the new rendering engine.
🚀 Performance & Save Loading
Q: The tool is extremely laggy on 4K monitors?
Go to Settings and check if Hardware Acceleration is enabled. Also, ensure your GPU drivers are up to date. MCA Selector v2.7 includes improved High-DPI support, but it requires a compatible OpenGL runtime.
Q: Can’t find my world save folder?
By default, Minecraft saves are located at %appdata%/.minecraft/saves on Windows. If you use custom launchers like Prism, CurseForge, or MultiMC, you need to navigate to their specific “instances” folder to locate your world’s region files.
📋 Version & Data Support
Q: Does it support 2026 Snapshots (26wX)?
Yes! MCA Selector v2.7 is updated weekly to maintain compatibility with the latest Minecraft 26.1 snapshots. It handles new NBT structures and block state changes natively.
Q: Can I edit Minecraft Bedrock (.leveldb) worlds?
No. MCA Selector is strictly for Java Edition Anvil format (.mca). For Bedrock world editing, you will need tools like Amulet Editor or MCCtoolChest.
